Parallel Track for the Airport Tram

Client: Tallinna Linnatransport AS

Contract period: April 2025 – December 2025

Contract value: EUR 412,823 (ex-VAT)

Project Overview:

On April 11, 2025, Tallinna Linnatransport AS and KMG Infra OÜ signed a construction contract under public procurement reference number: 290865 for the “Design and Construction of the Parallel Track for the Airport Tram.”

The project concerns the final stop of the tram line located at the airport, where — according to traffic regulations — only public transport is allowed to operate. Additionally, the area includes bus stops and platforms used by both city and regional buses. Separate elevated curbed islands/platforms have been constructed for buses to stop and to be segregated from regular traffic. Currently, trams have no option to stop without blocking traffic on the existing tram line.

The contractor’s task is to prepare a construction design for a new tram track and carry out the necessary construction work accordingly.

The new parallel tram track will be built east of the existing track, between two existing raised curbed islands. The designed length of the new parallel track is 110 meters.

The concept is that a tram intending to stop will do so on the existing tram line. Therefore, the existing curb will need to be shifted toward the new tram track so that it can function as a public transport stop.
