New tramway to Tallinn Airport infrastructure design-construction contract has been signed!

The contract value is approximately 11,5 million EUR excl. VAT. The Contractor was selected by international procurement and was won by a consortium of Merko Ehitus Eesti AS and KMG Inseneriehituse AS.

The tenders evaluation criteria was the lowest price. The client is Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS.

During the project a tunnel will be built from Ülemiste tramway loop to Keevise street (below Ülemiste railway station area and Suur-Sõjamäe street). New tramway will exit to Keevise street and will end with a turn-around loop adjacent to the airport.  The new tramway length is approximately 2km. New traction substation will also be built to guarantee uninterrupted power supply to the tramline.

The streets network of Ülemiste City will be reconstructed as well as Lennujaama road. The airport terminal will connect to the tram station via an escalator in a pedestrians gallery.

Design  works will start immediately. Construction works will start in spring 2016 and the project will be completed at the end of 2017.
