A contract was signed for the construction of Suurupi Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Earlier this week in Tabasalu we signed a contract for the construction of Suurupi Wastewater Treatment Plant.

OÜ Strantum carried out an international procurement in the confines of the European cohesion fund water management project in order to find a contractor for the construction of Suurupi Wastewater Treatment Plant. Out of the 6 tenders presented the tender from Joint Venture KMG Inseneriehituse AS, Schöttli Keskkonnatehnika AS and Viimsi Keevitus AS was announced as successful and a contract was signed on the 11th of September 2012 with the Joint Venture. 

The approved contract amount (incl. contingency and VAT 20%) is 5 226 836,20 EUR.

In the confines of the contract a new wastewater treatment plant will be constructed in Suurupi with a capacity of 10 000IE as well as a deep sea discharge pipeline into the Gulf of Finland and sludge handling facilities. 

With the construction of Suurupi WWTP a basis is formed to accept sewage from Vääna-Jõesuu, Viti and Suurupi villages where there are 3800 permanent residents which increases to 10134 residents during the summer period. The WWTP will be constructed taking into consideration all contemporary environmental requirements and after its implementation the environmental contamination from the existing outdated treatment plants and leaking is liquidated. 

The quality of the treated wastewater will comply with the requirements of the decree of the government of Estonia “Procedures for discharging wastewater into a body of water or into soil”.

The contract period is 900 days from the signing of the contract and the contract completion is planned to be March 2015.
